Congratulations to the winners of both the trophy design contest and the 2023 3D Printing Industry Awards 🎉
3D Printing Industry (3DPI) launched the 3D Printing Industry Awards in 2016 to celebrate excellence in additive manufacturing and showcase the applications, enterprises, systems, and individuals driving the industry forward. The winners are selected by a combination of public vote and an expert committee with almost 2,000 years of collective 3D printing experience.
The awards will be given out on November 30th at a gala dinner in London, where they are presented with a unique trophy and here’s the exciting part…you could be the designer of that trophy!
Every year, the 3DPI holds a competition to design the trophy and since Thangs has a such a large and amazing community, it only makes sense that we’d be the ones hosting that competition 🏆

The 3DPI Awards are a celebration of 3D printing, so incorporating design elements that show off the possibilities with this technology is certainly a plus.
The trophy will be made using SLS 3D printing by 3DPRINTUK.
- Minimum feature size: 0.75mm
- Minimum trophy dimensions: 75 x 75 x 75mm
- Maximum trophy dimensions: 125 x 125 x 125 mm
- Minimum wall thickness 1.5mm
- Minimum angle 30 degrees for best results
- Trophy to be monochrome black
- Optimized for SLS
Prizes:
If it wasn’t already awesome enough that the winning design will forever be a part of 3D Printing history, the winner will also receive a brand new AnkerMake M5C 3D printer! More info here.
In addition, your work will be profiled on 3D Printing Industry, and your design seen across the 3D printing world!
Second Place: $300 gift card to Matterhackers or 3DJake
Third Place: $200 gift card to Matterhackers or 3DJake
Additional prizes for the top ten will include a promo code to join one designer’s membership plan courtesy of Thangs. Promo code to be used on Membership plans (on Thangs) equal to $20 or less per month. Promo codes will cover five months of membership per winner!

- All entries must be original works created by the entrant and not used in other previous contests by other brands. Let’s be respectful to the community designers.

- The judges’ decisions are 100% final. In case of dispute, no correspondence will be entered into.
- Winning entries (models) will be documented and may be used for promotional purposes on social media.
- Contestant’s models must be uploaded to Thangs.com to be considered as an entry.
- The contest and prizes are not open to Physna/Thangs employees or their families.
