We heard your feedback and are excited to announce that we’ve completely redesigned the upload process on Thangs.com to make it more user friendly. We’ve put everything in one place with sections for: Name and Description, Folder and Permissions, Images for your Model, and Additional Details and Licenses. In this blog, we’ll go over each section and its features.
Name and Description
In this section, you will put your model’s title. This title is what will display on search results and on your model page.
Next is the model description. You’ve always been able to use markdown syntax to format your model description, however, now we’ve added the option of using the text format bar to make bullet points, bold or italicize your text, add links and more.
Folder and Permissions
If you have a lot of models, you may want to keep them organized in folders. You can select which folder you want your model to upload to or leave it in your main file list. You can always move your model to a folder after it is uploaded, too.
Your model is by default set to private. Private models can only be viewed by you or anyone you invite to be a collaborator. If you want anyone who visits Thangs.com to be able to view and download your model, make sure to set your model permissions to ‘Public Sharing.’
Images of your model
We’ve now made it so you can upload images of your model during the upload process. Just drag and drop or select your .jpg, .jpeg, or .png file to upload a render or 3D print of your model. These images will appear directly on your model’s page.
Additional details and licenses
In the final section of our upload process, you can upload your model’s license. If you’re not sure what to put for your license, read our blog post here that goes into further detail and provides a resource for you to get started.
While it’s not required, you can also select a category for your model. Stay tuned for more in this section, too.
